Dedit "I Givith Light"
By: TutonicMonkey
As you can imagine the lights in a world are very important. Not only do you need them to, “see” but they also play a big factor in the mood of a world. They can also help to control the movement of a player, “lighting the way.” In DEdit there are four main types of lighting: Lights, Dir Lights, Static Sunlight, and Ambient Light.
To add a light, right click in any of the four view ports and select [ADD]. In the list of available nodes select your choice of lights.
Light Nodes: Think of a basic light node as a regular light bulb. When it is on, it emits light in all directions in a spherical fashion. You can adjust how big this sphere is, it's color, and also it's brightness.
Dir Light Nodes (Directional Lights):This light is much like a spotlight. It has a cone shape and you can adjust it's length, end diameter, it's color, and also it's brightness.
These two lights are often used in conjunction to provide a better lighting effect.

Static Sunlight Node
A Static Sunlight node works just like the sun in the sky. It is one massive light shining from above. This node is used primarily on maps with outdoor areas or on terrain. Placement of this node is not important however the [Rotation] or angle(Pitch) the light is pointed is. (The blue line indicates Pitch)
The pitch controls which dirrection in the sky the light is coming from. |

As I said the placement is not important because light dose not come from the node itself but from any boxes flagged as [Sky Portal] = True. Working with sky's will be covered on the Sky Box page.
Ambient Light
Ambient light refers to the overall illumination of an environment. It's a flat light which is coming from no particular source.
To set the ambient light in your map navigate to: World\World Info..

The Ambient light string should look like any of these: Ambientlight 5 2 20; Ambientlight 40 40 50; Ambientlight 3 3 3;
The 90 90 90 ect. is equal to the color spectrum values Red, Green, Blue. These values can range from 0 to 99, higher numbers are brighter. If all three numbers are the same pure white light is produced.
